One of the 22 British men who raised more than $190,000 to fund the upgrade of electricity system and the lighting of the National Museum had expressed his desire to become a Khmer citizen, reports everyday.com.

Douglas Latchote (spelling?), a British businessman who resides and runs a business in Bangkok has also donated many Cambodian artefacts to the National Museum which he said he had obtained them illegally.

Douglas Latchote handed the money and many pieces of the artefacts to Deputy PM Sok An in front of about 100 Cambodian government officials during an inauguration ceremony of the electricity upgrade and the lighting of the National Museum.

In his speech during the ceremony, Mr. Douglas Latchote jokingly said that may be in the previous life he was a Cambodian, that's why this life he loves the Cambodian people so much.

Mr. Douglas Latchote has reportedly asked Deputy PM Sok An to help him obtain a Khmer citizenship.
