Vietnamese power keeps Cambodia on the move

Vietnam-Cambodia cooperation in the power sector is of strategic and durable significance, showing the special friendship between the two neighbouring countries, stressed Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

The PM stated this while receiving the Cambodia Minister of Industry, Mines and Energy, Suy Sem in Hanoi on May 26.

PM Dung expressed his pleasure at the excellent way the two countries have developed in relations in many fields and praised the results of the talks between Minister Suy Sem and his Vietnamese counterpart Vu Huy Hoang.

He asked the two ministers to expand the previously reached agreements to boost trade, investment and economic cooperation and nurture the special traditional friendship between the two countries.

Minister Suy Sem briefed the Vietnamese Government leader on the recent talks held between the two ministries, especially the agreement allowing Cambodia to buy electricity from Vietnam through the 220KW Chau Doc-Takeo-Phnom Penh power line.

The Cambodian Minister confirmed his support for the contracts signed with the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group to explore and mine for minerals in Cambodia and projects to build hydro- electric power plants by the Electricity of Vietnam Group.
