Cambodian police said they did not know about the attack on the granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II

everyday.comJustify FullTranslated by Khmerization

Cambodian police said that they did not know that a friend of Princess Eugenie (pictured), the granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II of England, had her purse snatched by thieves while taking a night stroll on the streets of Phnom Penh.

The British press reported recently that thieves had snatched a purse of a friend of Princess Eugenie last week but both girls were rescued by the British Royal Guards who accompanied them on their trips to Cambodia.

Mr. Hy Pru, Deputy Police Commissioner of the Phnom Penh Police, said that his officers had checked and investigated thoroughly, but so far there is no result. Mr. Pol Pithey, another Deputy Police Commissioner of the Phnom Penh Police, said that it is possible that the princess did not report the incident to the Cambodian police and this has made it very difficult for police to get sufficient information to investigate the case. He said: "If we meet the victim we will have sufficient information to investigate the case."

This sort of incident will have a negative publicity that will affect Cambodia's tourism industry. The Cambodian police, instead of denying totally, should inquire with the British embassy and apologize for the incident or the lack of security. Bag snatching, robbery, happened everywhere but when it happened to a VIP it must be taken seriously and investigate thoroughly. In this case the police should do their job better than this.

then why hired a bodyguards for $200,000.00 for? maybe they should apologized for her shitting in the wrong hole to then.

They are her personal guards. But Cambodia, as a country, must do everything to protect its good image. The incident proved that Cambodia lacks security and high in petty crimes. This sort of bad publicity will affect Cambodia's tourism and its image abroad. Any governments that deny such incident without thorough investigation and absolve their responsibility is a totally irresponsible government.

...also her guards have the duties to protect her and in this case they have done their jobs superbly by getting her out of harms.

The duties of the Cambodian police are to ensure the security in the country and to prevent crimes from take place. I know it is impossible to completely eliminate crimes, but don't just deny the incident before investigation. Touch Naroth, Phnom Penh police chief, denied the incident completely to Radio Free Asia. This is the sort of response we can get from a corrupt police force who do nothing but just to use their powers to fatten their pockets.
