A government official said that a lawyer representing Prime Minister Hun Sen had counter-sued Mrs Mu Sochua (pictured) in the Phnom Penh Court for defamation, reports Deum Ampil.
Mr. Om Yintieng, senior advisor for Mr. Hun Sen, said that the lawyer had already lodged a suit with the Phnom Penh Court on Friday. Mr. Yintieng had also said that all 90 members of parliament from Mr. Hun Sen's Cambodian People's Party will support the lifting of Mrs. Mu Sochua's parliamentary immunity if the court request that her parliamentary immunity be lifted.
Speaking in an interview with Radio Free Asia, Mrs. Mu Sochua said that there is a possibility that her parliamentary immunity could be lifted and arrest for daring to sue PM Hun Sen, but said that she is not concerned.
Mrs. Mu Sochua said: “I have nothing to be scared about. On the contrary, I want to see justice. I have been a victim twice in this case, they have violated my rights violated twice. First, my lawsuit from the time of the election campaign has not been resolved yet and now come this second case. I am still maintaining the same position that the reason I am suing Mr. Hun Sen for defamation is because I have sufficient proofs.”
Mrs. Mu Sochua is suing Hun Sen for defamation by demanding for 500 riels ($0.13) in compensation because she claimed that he had defamed her during a public speech which he did not name her directly. In a speech in Kampot, Hun Sen said that there was a female MP from Kampot had caused a button on her blouse losen by herself, but instead she accused others of attacking her, causing the button of her blouse to losen.
