Ex-King Sihanouk (R), Queen Mother Monineath Sihanouk (M) and King Sihamoni (L) during their return from China in 2007.
Reported by Khmerization
Ex-King Norodom Sihanouk had challenged his critics, who accused of him of abandoning Cambodia for a luxury life in the comfort of his royal residence in Beijing, to return home to serve the Cambodian nation and her people, reports Radio Free Asia.
Ex-King Sihanouk resides most of the time in Beijing as he requires constant medical cares from his Chinese doctors and only visits his native Cambodia on special occasions. His critics, the majority of them are Khmer expatriates themselves, see this as an abandonment of his native Cambodia and the Khmer people. And they want the former monarch to return and live in Cambodia.
In a hand-written reply to his critics in French released on Sunday, the ex-monarch stated that, while he loves, respects and praises China and is greatly indebted to the Chinese government for providing treatments for his cancer, he had never ceased to serve the Cambodian nation and the Khmer people.
At the end of his letter, he challenged those Khmer expatriates, who strongly criticised him for staying away from Cambodia, to return home to serve the nation.

Even though I have a relative(by birth related to the King) who work with the King,
Who is in the right mind wants to have
a Idiot King to run and to help the
country. The King should stay where
he is at. There is a saying, with
a King like him, we do not need Viet
as an enemy.
hamona hamoot
King is head of state of country. King has responsibility many important issue in country according to constitution. King is not normal person. King shouldn't compare himself to normal person.
lol, now he compared himself as normal person.
He is the ex-king, not the king. We know he resides outside of Cambodia most of the time, but he is retired and he is entitled to a quiet retirement of his own choice and in this case he chose China. On more important thing is that he requires constant medical attention from his Chinese doctors for his cancer.
wow!
hey man, why don't you read more new law, he is retire king. The day after he retired, Khmer national assembly passed special law.
Ok, in case something like that, he is retired. He is former king. He is not normal citizen.
ha ha ha ha King father Norodom sihanouk compared himself as normal citizen.
He should think, he is staying in sky.
