China has unveiled plans to establish a $10bn investment fund for south-east Asian countries.
The announcement of the plans, originally planned to take place at Thailand’s cancelled ASEAN conference, was made by Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao.
That deal is intended to create the world's largest free trade area, covering nearly two-billion people and has been designed for cooperation on construction of infrastructure, energy and resources, information and communications.
Over the next three to five years, China will offer $15billion in credit for cooperation projects in South east Asia.
Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar will be the first to receive urgent funds.
