In the last 2-3 days there have been tensions along the Khmer-Thai borders near Preah Vihear temple due to the re-deployments of Thai troops and the laying of barbed wires by Thai troops in the areas considered disputed. On top of these, the low reconnaissance flights of Thai military helicopter over the areas have further fuelled border tensions.
Speaking through telephone, a Cambodian military source from Preah Viear frontline said on 12th February that at 2:30 in the afternoon, a Thai military helicopter have conducted three very low reconnaissance flights over the borders at Veal Entry opposite the Preah Vihear temple at Boss Sbov Pass and Ta Thav Pass.
The report said that the low reconnaissance flights have caused the Cambodian troops to panic and they took up positions in their trenches in a fighting mode.
The same report said that on the morning of 11th February, about 80 Thai troops have been deployed at the frontline opposite Veal Entry. On the morning of 12th February, a Nissan pick up truck travelled back and forth five times to transport Thai soldiers from the Red House opposite Preah Vihear temple to Veal Entry which the Cambodian side suspected that the Thai side was deploying their troops to get ready for battle.
On the morning of the 12th, some Thai troops had crossed into Cambodian territories at Veal Entry. The Thai troops had been pushed back into Thai territories by Cambodian Border Protection Unit 111 without any fighting.
The report from the border said that from the 11th to the 12th of February, the situation at Preah Vihear borders have become tense again, as both the Cambodian and Thai troops have taken up positions ready for a fight.
The new tensions were caused by Thai troops incursions into Cambodian territories. The Kampuchea Thmey report said that the Thai actions were in contravention of their statements which always said that they wanted to resolve the border disputes through peaceful means. The Thai side seems to act differently from what they said. On the other hand, the Cambodian leadership are very patient with the Thai side and had never retaliated to any Thai violations, the paper said.
The Cambodian leadership, especially Prime Minister Hun Sen, has always said that wars with Thailand is the last resort, even though Thailand is facing internal political turmoil, Cambodia will wait for Thailand’s internal crisis to subside so that both sides can negotiate in good faith to resolve the border conflict, Kampuchea Thmey reported.

there can be no democracy when one family rule with friends and relative and then inter-married to create the ruling dynasty!
