Supporters of ex-Thai PM, Mr. Thanksin Shinawatra, said on Thursday (25th Dec.) that they will stage a demonstration at Snam Luang (Royal Stadium) on Sunday (28th December) to unseat the government led by Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva. Important leaders of the red-shirted United Front Against Dictatorship said that the protesters will disperse only if Prime Minister Abhisit disolves the parliament.
This group said that they can gather enough people to disrupt the PM's speech to the parliament which will take place on Monday (29th Dec) and Tuesday (3oth Dec). This group said that they will form many groups of the red-shirted people throughout the country to support their movement. Mr. Abhisit, the new PM, said that he is not concerned about this political situation but said that he will follow the situation very closely. He said that most Thai people want peace and national reconciliation.
Bangkok Police Commissioner, Mr. Suchart Muenkeo, said that police will guarrantee the security during the PM's parliamentary speech, but said that police will not use force against the protesters. He also said that tear gas will not be used against the protesters.
