The Norwegian delegation asked to examine the draft laws on oil explorations in Cambodia

Phnom Penh - At the Council of Ministers headquarters Mr. Sok An, acting PM of Cambodia, has agreed to meet the delegation of the Norwegian government officials in charge of international aids and from the directorate of Norwegian oil explorations which include Mr. Oystein Noreng, Mr. Pale Korvslova, a professor from the University of Management of Norway and Mr. Trond Kubberrud, auditor of the Norwegian International Oil Organisation, on the 27th of November, 2008.

Mr. Sok An, acting PM of Cambodia, has welcomed the Norwegian delegation and has requested Norway, which has experiences in making successful investments in their own oils, to help examine the Cambodian Oil draft Laws.

The Norwegian delegation has welcomed the Cambodian request and is willing to assist the Cambodian Oil Authority. Mr. Te Duong Dara, director-general of the Cambodian Oil Authority, said that Cambodian Oil Authority has co-operated with its Norwegian counterpart for more than 3 years.

In the past, Norway has met with the Cambodian Oil Authority regarding technical expertise, engineering fields, oil production and oil developments. During this visit, the Norwegian will conduct examination and evaluation for ways to co-operate with the Cambodian Oil Authority. Mr. Sok An, Chairman of the Cambodian Oil Authority and acting PM of Cambodia, said that he will do everything he can to get Cambodia to become the 10th oil partners of Norway. If Cambodia is chosen as the 10th oil partners of Norway, the Cambodian Oil Authority can receive technical assistance from Norway worth up to $20 million.

The meeting was conducted in a very cordial atmosphere and at the end of the meeting, Mr. Sok An, who is the acting PM of Cambodia, has presented a souvenir gift to the Norwegian delegation./
