Hong Kong ship to cruise between Phu Quoc (Koh Tral) and Cambodia

Hong Kong-flagged liner Jupiter Cruise will travel between Vietnam and Cambodia later this month, targeting wealthy visitors from both countries, the ship’s owner said Friday.

Sam Lam, chairman of Royal Group, which also owns three other cruise vessels, said it would be the first five-star ship to travel between Phu Quoc Island (Koh Tral) and Sihanoukville in the south of Cambodia.

Lam, an overseas Vietnamese, said the cruise would promote tourism in Phu Quoc, Vietnam’s most beautiful island. (Phu Quoc, in Cambodian called Koh Tral, was once a Cambodian island ceded to Vietnam by the French Protectorate after the maritime Brevie Line was drawn in 1939).

The program will be organized in partnership with local travel firm Seastar.

Huynh Van Son, CEO of Seastar Corporation, said the two companies would collaborate to develop tourism infrastructure on Phu Quoc and expand the route to other destinations like Nha Trang, Hai Phong and Quang Ninh.
