Weather forecast for the Asia-Pacific region

Tropical Storm Noul is forecast to hit Vietnam on Tuesday, but is expected to weaken to a tropical depression as it advances across southern Vietnam and Cambodia. The storm will slam the region with heavy rain, severe thunderstorms, strong winds and waves up to 11 feet (3 meters) tall.

(AP) - Noul is expected to strengthen again to a tropical storm once it crosses into the warm waters of the Gulf of Thailand.

An area of low pressure over southeastern Siberia will push colder air and rain across East Asia. Temperatures across Japan, the Korean peninsula and eastern China are expected to drop several degrees. Tokyo will remain dry with temperatures reaching into the mid-10s Celsius. Temperatures in Seoul will fall to -1 C. Shanghai can expect temperatures in the mid-10s C.

Low pressure systems will trigger showers over much of central and eastern Australia, with the heaviest rain expected over Queensland.

Sydney will see temperatures in the upper 10s C, while Brisbane will be in the mid-20s C and Melbourne in the lower 20s C.
