A high-ranking delegation led by Samdech Chea Sim (pictured), Chairman of the Cambodian People's Party ( CPP ) and President of Senate started a visit to Vietnam today, boosting friendly solidarity and comprehensive co-operation between Vietnam and Cambodia.
Welcoming CPP Chairman Chea Sim, we would like to congratulate the Cambodian people on their achievements recorded in national construction and development.
The Vietnamese people are delighted to see the Vietnam-Cambodia relations boosted by leaders of the two Parties and States and people of the two countries under the motto "Good neighbourlines, traditional friendship, comprehensive and long-lasting co-operation", have achieved fine results. The recent visits by senior leaders of the two countries have contributed to promoting friendship and comprehensive co-operation in a more efficient and reliable manner.
Co-operation in economics, trade and investment has been well developed. Both sides are striving to increase two-way trade value from US$1.2 billion to US$2 billion by 2010.The two countries have paid attention to co-operation in implementing the signed
agreements and resolving the border issues, maintaining security and stability in border areas and have agreed to complete land border demarcation and landmark planting by 2010. The two sides have also paid attention to strengthening co-operation in military and security as well as in education-training, energy-electricity, healthcare, transport and co-operation between localities.
Vietnam and Cambodia have also enhanced co-operation in regional and multilateral framework such as the Association of Southeast Asiam Nations ( ASEAN ), the Mekong River Commission ( MRC ), the Greater Mekong Sub-region ( GMS ), the West-East Corridor ( WEC ), the Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Strategy ACMECS ), Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle and others.
The Vietnamese Party, State and people take this opportunity to thank the Cambodian People's Party, Government and people for their valuable support and assistance given to Vietnam in the struggle for national salvation in the past as well as in the on-going national construction and defence at present. The current visit to Vietnam by Samdec Chea Sim once again affirms determination of the two countries' leaders to further promote friendship and co-operation..
