What is the meaning of the word "Khmerization" in Khmer?

I just received an email from Mr. Chandhino Men D, which I thought was his criticism of my translation of the word Khmerization. The following his his message to me:

It is so nice to know about your effort and idea.

I am very confusing about the text "Khmerization" in Khmer. It is not the way, how we the Cambodian write. It is more Thai an we don't think, that most of Khmer are happy about it. Please be kind do not change it.

Dear Chandhino,

Thanks for your comment. But I don't understand what you are trying to say about the word "Khmerization" in Khmer. Do you mean that I mis-translate the word? Please elaborate. As far as I know the word I translate as "khmerupaniyakamm (ខែ្មរូបនីយកម្ម)" is the most correct form of translation. The other translation is "khemarakyeanakamm (ខេមរយានកម្ម)". This word was created by Prof. Keng Vannsak in the 1970s to refer to the use of Khmer texts in all official documents instead of French which was used during and after the French colony. "khmerupaniyakamm" has been widely used to refer to making everything Khmer. For example, "khmerupaniyakamm sangkream vietnam"= the Khmerization of the Vietnam war. This phrase has been used very often during the Vietnam war from the 1960s-1970s. In the dictionaries you can find both words. ​But "khmerupaniyakamm" was widely used and it was created by Samdech Chuon Nath, our venerated Buddhist Partriarch who compiled the first Khmer dictionary. And the word "khemarakyeanakamm" was created by Prof. Keng Vannsak. If you know the history between these two men, you would know that Prof. Keng Vannsak was a rival of Samdech Chuon Nath in trying to reform the Khmer language. He was against everything, or most thing, that Samdech Chuon Nath represents. But he was no match for Samdech Chuon Nath. I hope you are clear.
