Remember to zoom in, out and around on the map--with so much happening in each episode, it's easy to miss a map point.
Hey race fans, Amazing Race 13 is in high gear, with teams making their way from Bolivia to New Zealand--where even Phil's dad made a cameo appearance on the mat. Kelly and Christy made some major gains and landed in the top three--ahead of archenemies Nick and Starr.
Will Ken and Tina keep up their winning strategy? Will Andrew and Dan get their act together enough to pull ahead? Will Dallas have an opportunity to take off his shirt and flex for the camera? Seven teams remain. Who will be eliminated next?
LET'S FIND OUT
THE RACE:
Teams must travel over 5,600 miles to Siem Reap, Cambodia. Once there, they must make their way to a marked roadside gas pumping station to receive their next clue. Ken and Tina are out first, followed by Terence and Sarah. On the way to the airport, Terence and Sarah get pulled over by the police for speeding and are issued a ticket. While it did slow them down, they still managed to make it on the first flight out.
Teams all use a travel agency within the airport. Kelly and Christy act like 12-year-olds around Dallas, commenting on his spiky hair, which they say reminds them of Teen Wolf. Note to Dallas: Since we are apparently back in sixth grade, you may as well get checked for cooties. Dallas wonders aloud to Toni what the divorcees must look like without piles of makeup. Meow! We're liking Dallas more and more. Most of the teams make one of two flights to Cambodia. Andrew and Dan make the second flight by sheer luck and perseverance with the gate agents. This leaves Aja and Ty as the only team on the third flight, hours later. This gives them plenty of time to talk to each other and us about their relationship. Of course.
The first six teams all meet up at the connection in Singapore, diminishing the lead held by Ken and Tina and Terence and Sarah. In Siem Reap, the teams take taxis to try and locate their next clue at the marked gas pumping station. Toni and Dallas are erroneously taken to a hotel, while the divorcees are taken to the wrong gas station. There seems to be a lot of confusion, but eventually, the teams start arriving at the right place. Teams must use a hand pump to put gas into a truck. Once they have pumped the correct amount, they are given the next clue, which directs them to Siem Reap Harbor and Tonle Sap, Southeast Asia's largest lake.
At the harbor, teams board a marked boat and are taken to Kho Andeth, a floating restaurant. About halfway there, Terence and Sarah's boat suffers a mechanical failure. Not missing a beat, Terence does what he does best: Gets frustrated and complains. Without losing too much time, he grabs a pole and goes all gondolier on the challenge. Meanwhile, Andrew and Dan are still struggling with the gas pumping, and this gives Aja and Ty a little bit of a break. They are at least still in the game.
DETOUR:
Teams must select between Village Life and Village Work. In Village Life, teams must use their boats to visit three different locations and collect a set of toy teeth, a doll and a basketball. This challenge could take a little while longer--but it doesn't require strength and endurance. In Village Work, teams make their way to the fishing grounds, and jumping into the water, must retrieve two traps filled with fish and deliver them back at the dock. This challenge is very physical, but could be faster. Toni and Dallas go the fishing route, and this gives Dallas the perfect opportunity to remove his shirt to show off his gym-sculpted torso and arms. Too bad the divorcees weren't around to see that! After teams complete the Detour, they're directed to Angkor Wat, the 12th-century temple that's a national symbol of Cambodia.
ROADBLOCK:
At Angkor Wat, team members must go on an exploration of the temple and search for the Chamber of Echoes, a small room that can create an echo throughout the temple. Team members will find their next clue in the chamber. The grounds are vast, and finding the room is not an easy task. Nick manages to find it first and retrieve the last clue: Head to the Pit Stop at Bayon Temple. On his way out, Nick lies to Terence and Dallas about finding the chamber. Hope you don't need a favor next week! Tina manages to walk right through the chamber several times before realizing she was in the right place. You know if it was Ken, she'd be screeching at him.
PIT STOP:
This week, it's Bayon Temple. Nick and Starr finish first and win a five night stay in St. John, including a romantic sunset catamaran cruise and snorkeling trip. Toni and Dallas come in second, with Terence and Sarah in third. Ken and Tina, who have finished in first place for the past three weeks, drop into fourth due to Tina's drunken stumbling around Angkor Wat.
OUSTED:
For the first time in five weeks, Aja and Ty seemed likeable and were enjoyable to watch, so naturally, they had to go. After a valiant effort and almost no sniping at each other, they arrived last and were eliminated.
NEXT WEEK:
Because Terence and Sarah received a speeding ticket, they will have a 30-minute penalty applied to the start of the next leg of the race. It didn't affect their finish this week, but it could cost them a lot next week. Also, flirty sparks start to fly between Dallas and Starr, and Tina is back to her old browbeating ways. Will Ken finally snap? We sure hope so!
