Prince Ranaridhh Wishes To Return To Cambodia Before The Election

Mr Liv Sovanna, a lawyer for Prince Ranariddh, said that Prince Ranariddh requested the leadership of the Norodom Ranariddh Party (NRP) to do everything they could to enable to him to return to Cambodia before the election.
In an interview with The Mekong Times on Sunday, Mr. Liv Sovanna said: “Samdech Krom Preah Ranariddh has requested to the NRP leadership and the NRP members to prepare two choices: First, to request the High Court to make its judgement on his case before the election, so he could know whether he is guilty or not guilty. Secondly, in case the High Court does not make any judgements before the election, the government should suspend the Phnom Penh Court’s guilty verdict against him so the Prince could return to Cambodia to campaign for the election like any other parties.”
According to Mr. Liv Sovanna, this could be Prince Ranariddh’s last resort as the 27th July election approaches. //

Note: Phnom Penh Court had earlier convicted Prince Ranariddh on charges of breach of trust and sentenced him in absebtia to 18 months jail term for the sale of the headquarter of the Funcinpec Party. He is in self-imposed exile for more than one year.
