Government Sacked One Secretary Of Sate For Defection

Government officials have said that the government has sacked Mr. Ngor Pin, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Water Resources from the Funcinpec Party, on Thursday (22th May) because he has defected to the Norodom Ranariddh Party. Mr. Lim Kean Hor, Minister of Water Resources, has said through telephone that Mr. Nor Pin has defected to the oppositions so he has to be sacked immediately. He said: "The Norodom Ranariddh Party is an opposition party. There is no other reason to allow him to serve in the government."

Mr. Ngor Pin has said that he has indeed defected to the Norodom Ranariddh Party, but claimed that he has resigned from the government on Tuesday, before the government has any opportunity to sack him. He said: "I have resigned from the government because I wanted to stand as an MP candidate for the Norodom Ranariddh Party."

He added that he decided to defect to the Norodom Ranariddh Party because the government failed to resolve the issues of illegal immigrants. //
