Celebrate achievement

I read the editorial about the Milton fundraiser for building a school in Cambodia. It basically stated that kids should not be forced into raising money for a charity an adult chooses. This is such an absurd thought, it almost floored me.

Let's not look at what these kids and this town have accomplished, let's focus on something negative. Why do people do that? Being a parent of one of these kids I want to stand up and say I am so proud of them and this town. I am so grateful for teachers like Mr. Conn, who has taught our kids to look beyond themselves. He inspired them. He made a difference in the lives of our kids and some kids in Cambodia.

Milton is the first public school in the United States to raise enough money to build a school in Cambodia. This was no small feat, this was tremendous and it should be celebrated, not ridiculed!

Julie Dorman,

Milton
