It was learnt that Prince Thomico – who, just last week, the Funcinpec party claimed that it did not remove him from the party even though he criticized the top party leaders nonstop – plans to leave Cambodia after the Boat race festival to meet with Prince Ranariddh in Malaysia.Today’s edition of the Kampuchea Thmei newspaper reported that Prince Thomico, the special Funcinpec advisor, was nominated as the special coordinator for the unification of the royalists, and in his latest function, he plans to leave Cambodia for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in order to meet with Prince Ranariddh on 25-26 November 2007 to negotiate for a return back home of Prince Ranariddh. However, this information was rejected by the NRP. Muth Chantha, NRP spokesman, told the Kampuchea Thmei newspaper that Prince Ranariddh never spoke about himself rejoining the Funcinpec. Muth Chantha said that Prince Ranariddh used to issue calls for a unification of the royalists, but he never mentioned about any meeting with Funcinpec.Muth Chantha added that the NRP advisory council recently met, and it did not raise the issue about negotiations to be held in Kuala Lumpur. He said that his party will not discuss with Prince Thomico because he is a changing politician.Nhiek Bun Chhay, the influential Funcinpec secretary-general, also rejected this negotiation. Not only did he reject it, he also indicated that Prince Thomico was never nominated as the special coordinator. He told Kampuchea Thmei that all doors to Funcinpec are closed to Prince Ranariddh. He said that if Funcinpec left its doors opened for a too long period, people would scorn the party calling it mediocre. Therefore, to avoid having people scorning it as a party which could not function without the prince, then the party decided to close all doors.Nevertheless, Prince Thomico continues to claim that he and Prince Ranariddh communicated with emails exchange, and he said that they have already agreed with each others on a number of issues.
