The Hero or the Traitor?

By Pang Sokheun
Orginally Posted at: The Son of the Khmer Empire

To show off his muscle as a strong leader, the nationalist, the conpetent and the defender of the nation HunSen has verbally and militarily been ready to attack Thailand at anytime if he has the chance without thinking of the consequence. With this, he is entitled as the only HERO of Cambodia by his group.

To maintain such a self-claimed status, he has never listened to suggestions, petitions and complaints from any NGO, Opposition party, and expert on border conflicts with the neighboring countries, esp., with Vietnam-his master.

Clearly, SRP leader Sam Rainsy, upon the request of the farmers, uprooted six border posts which illegally installed in their rice fields. His act was not appreciated or cooperated by Hun Xen, but he is condemned and now is under the arrest warrant accusing him of destroying public property and racism.

The three named in the warrants – Prak Chea, 28, Neang Phally, 39, and Prak Koeun, 38 – joined with opposition leader Sam Rainsy in uprooting the posts during a Buddhist ceremony in Chantrea district on October 25, claiming they were placed on their land by Vietnamese authorities.

However, CPP and Vietnam also uprooted many other border posts which claimed to be illegally installed on Cambodian territory as released by SRP Cabinet in its statement on: ”Other border markers surreptitiously removed“, and they contradictorily are not condemned and charged for the same act.

"Sam Rainsy pulled out six wooden poles at border the marker # 185. But subsequently, similar wooden poles at nearby border markers # 184, # 186 and # 187 have also been removed by the authorities themselves. At marker # 184 even the concrete foundations under the wooden poles have been dug out, put onto a tractor and taken back to Vietnam.

As Sam Rainsy has exposed, the poles he pulled out were planted on Cambodian farmers’ rice fields that are private properties with the farmers holding legal land titles to justify ownership of their land. Therefore, since the wooden poles were planted on their private properties without their consent, the farmers were entitled to remove them (the poles) or to ask somebody else to do it for them, which Sam
Rainsy did at marker # 185.

Now realizing they are on weak legal ground in the prosecution of Sam Rainsy and the concerned farmers, the authorities have surreptitiously resorted to do the same thing as Sam Rainsy did, i.e. removing illegally imposed border markers, which is leading to a judicial imbroglio illustrating the political nature of the charges levied against Sam Rainsy."

This act of Viet and puppet CPP is witnessed by Pov Pheap , second deputy chief of Samrong commune in Chantrea district, who said Tuesday that:

“Tthe border markers in question had in fact been removed by Vietnamese authorities on November 16, the same day that Sam Rainsy’s parliamentary immunity was lifted, paving the way for the charges against him.

“Sam Rainsy just pulled out six wooden border poles and they accused him of destroying public property, but when Khmer and Vietnamese authorities came to pull out the others nearby, that was not illegal,” Pov Pheap said.

Through this I think our compatriots will justly judge about this case and give justice to MP Sam Rainsy as well as the three farmers whose lands lost to Youn invader and now are being jailed and condemned by the puppet leader -Hun Sen.

Statement of SRP: Silencing the Spokeman and Eliminating the Messenger

My parliamentary immunity was lifted this morning. I feel sad and ashamed for my country's "National" Assembly. This assembly has very little national substance when it comes to defending the nation’s interest such as Cambodia's independence and territorial integrity, and to protecting the interest of the ordinary Khmer people such as poor and vulnerable farmers who are losing their vital rice fields and other farmland for internal or external reasons.

I am only a representative, a spokesman and a messenger for countless victims of abuses and injustices. I am only saying aloud that many things are going wrong in this country, that the current situation is just revolting and that Cambodia is heading for danger and other misfortunes.

In response to my warning and my cry for redress the ruling CPP has found nothing better than silencing the spokesman and eliminating the messenger.

By condemning me through the undemocratic and farcical lifting of my parliamentary immunity they have actually condemned their own country and their own people.

Sam Rainsy
Elected representative of the Cambodian people faithfully doing his duty

The Majority Traitors

By The Son of the Empire

MP Sam Rainsy pulled out the invaded border posts installed by Vietnamese soldiers.

It has become the fourth time this year that the useless parliamentarians under the armpit of CPP have voted to lift the Opposition´s immunity by ignoring the priceless role and commitment of the Opposition to serving the country as stipulated in the constitution.

Below is the statement of one of those traitors claimed regarding his views in the lifting of the immunity of MP Sam Rainsy:

‘It was a request from the court, so we have to do it. ‘We can’t judge whether his actions were right or wrong, that’s for the court”, said traitor legislaor CPP Hou Sry.

Why can´t he judge according to law as a legislator and know the action course of MP Sam Rainsy right or wrong? Or is he just an elementary kid like Hun Sen, Heng Samrin, and Chea Sim who fortunatedly installed to the posts?

As the Opposition, MP Sam Rainsy has to fulfill his duty in such a way which guarantteed by our constitution. In that sense, the National Assembly (NA) should ask Mr Va Kimhong, the President of Cambodian National Border Committee (CNBC), to investigate the incident and explain it to the NA and the nation.

In the investigation, to be sure, NA must make clear that Mr Va Kimhong not use the unconstitutional treaties with Vietnam when Cambodia was under its control such as the treaties of 1979, 1982, 1983 and 1985, and as well as the newly signed 2005-supplemental treaty.

Whether the investigation would have made and found that the border posts were correctly or incorrectly installed, the CNBC just reinstall them and clear all the minsunderstandings to the nation in solidarity and for the national interest, because it is in its capacity and responsibility in making the people understand about the process, negotiating with neighbouring countries, and installing the border posts. And MP Sam Rainsy must be free in performing his duty as usual.

In short, according to Hou Sry´s claim and the action of the lifting immunity of the Opposittion committed by the CPP´s majority in the NA, we Cambodians should clearly have understood that those CPP majority are the REAL MAJORITY TRAITORS against our nation.

In Cambodia, rumors are circulating that the opposition leader plans to meet with Prince Norodom Ranariddh in France to form a union, however, this rumor was rejected by opposition leader Sam Rainsy.

Keo Nimol (RFA): Hello Your Excellency, I want to ask you about the information circulating that you went to France to meet with Prince Ranariddh, is this true or not?

Sam Rainsy (SR): Not at all, I am rejecting (this information). I have no plan and I have no desire to meet with any politicians visiting from Cambodia during my stay in France. I only met with our compatriots who live overseas, and I only met with government officials and MPs in the countries I am visiting.

RFA: You must have seen the Rasmei Kampuchea newspaper in Cambodia which reported that you plan to meet with Prince Ranariddh to form a political party, in which Prince Ranariddh would be the party president, and you would be the party vice-president, but that you would be the candidate for the premiership. What do you think about this report?

SR: I never thought about this issue, and Rasmei Kampuchea called over the phone to ask me (about this issue), I rejected it, I said that I never entertained such idea, never thought about it at all, and I have no plan, no desire (to meet), and I am rejecting the claim that I can do something with Prince Ranariddh, I don’t have anything (to do with this claim), not at all.”

RFA: What is the importance of your visit overseas?

SR: It’s too meet with MPs in the countries I am visiting, as well as meeting with government officials in friendly countries, donor countries, and meeting with a number of NGOs which can send in election observers to Cambodia. They want to know about the situation in Cambodia, and what they should pay attention on during the election in Cambodia. I raised all the issues (concerning the election), and I asked them to help us, help protect the people’s rights so that the citizens can all vote, and so that there would be no election cheating, like what happened in the past.”

RFA: During this trip, which countries are you visiting?

SR: I went of (France,) Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, and I will travel to Finland by the end of this week. In Finland, I will inaugurate a branch of the SRP, this is the latest SRP branch opened in Finland, the northernmost country in Europe. Mr. Sok Yoeun is living there with his families and several of his relatives. The SRP branch will be located in Helsinki, and Mr. Sok Yoeun will be the party president there. We all remember that Mr. Sok Yoeun was the SRP member who raised the first party sign in Battambang province, but he suffered hardship in 1998 when he was accused of using violence by firing a rocket on the prime minister, at that time, they pursued to arrest him, and he fled to Thailand. Because there was a request to deport him back to Cambodia, Thailand did not take any decision during 5 years long, and he was jailed in Thailand during all those 5 years, it was only in the last 3-4 years that he received political asylum from Finland, and he took along with him about 30 members of his family to live with him in Finland. He opens a new SRP branch in Finland, and I will go to inaugurate this SRP branch on 29 December 2007.

RFA: When will you return back to Cambodia?

SR: I will arrive on 01 January 2008. 2008 is an extremely important year, the general election will take place in July, and there will be a good change in our Cambodia, therefore, I will arrive in Cambodia on 01 January to welcome 2008, the new year, which is extremely important for Cambodia.
