Srey Mom to testify on prostitution

Salon worker Khom Chandaraty, an alleged mistress of CNRP leader Kem Sokha, has agreed to appear before the Phnom Penh Municipal Court on Thursday to offer testimony relating to a prostitution case.

Kem Vesna, an attorney for Chandaraty – who also goes by Srey Mom – yesterday confirmed she would appear.

“The court calls Srey Mom, living in Kampong Siem district, Kampong Cham Province, to give the testimony on 16 June at 9am for interrogation over prostitution,” the summons reads.

When summonsed for a related case in April, Chandaraty identified voices on a recorded phone conversation as hers and Sokha’s. She had previously denied the woman’s voice was hers.

She then filed a lawsuit against Sokha for $300,000 for not giving her a house and cash, as promised in the tapes, and accused Adhoc staffers and other civil society members of instructing her to lie during questioning.

Four Adhoc staffers and a National Election Committee official were subsequently arrested on bribery charges.
