Cambodia's new FM meets chiefs of diplomatic missions for 1st time
PHNOM PENH, May 5 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia's new Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn met on Thursday with 29 chiefs of diplomatic missions in Cambodia for the first time since he took office last month, a spokesman said.
Sokhonn informed them about Cambodia's foreign policy which was enshrined in the Constitution, saying that Cambodia is an independent, sovereign, peaceful, permanently neutral and non-aligned country, according to foreign ministry spokesman Chum Sounry.
"His Excellency Prak Sokhonn assured all the chiefs of diplomatic missions that he would do all his best to further improve working relations and communication between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and all diplomatic missions as well as between him and all chiefs of diplomatic missions," the spokesman told reporters after the meeting.
The minister also expressed sincere thanks to all of them for their contributions to strengthening and expanding friendly relations and good cooperation with Cambodia, particularly in the fields of politics, economics, trade, investment, tourism, and human resources development.
Meanwhile, the chiefs of diplomatic missions extended congratulations to Prak Sokhonn on his appointment as the foreign minister a month ago and vowed to work closely with him to further enhance bilateral ties as well as multilateral relations. Enditem
