PHNOM PENH (Xinhua) -- Visiting Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Quang Vinh said Thursday that Vietnam would recall Tran Van Thong, spokesman for the Vietnamese Embassy to Cambodia, after the spokesman's comments have triggered off a wave of protests among ethnic Khmer Krom in Cambodia, according to Koy Kuong, spokesman for the Cambodia's Foreign Ministry.
Vinh made the remarks during a meeting with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Hor Namhong in Phnom Penh, the capital city of Cambodia.
"Vinh told Deputy Prime Minister Hor Namhong that the Vietnamese Embassy to Cambodia will send a diplomatic note to the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs about the calling back of spokesman Tran Van Thong to Vietnam," Koy Kuong told reporters after the meeting.
Tran Van Thong's recall came after he commented on a radio in June that South Vietnam, or former Kampuchea Krom provinces, belonged to Vietnam "long" before colonial France's official transfer of the land in 1949.
The comments triggered off a wave of protests last month among ethnic Khmer Krom monks and activists in Cambodia.
Hundreds of protesters had staged demonstrations and burned a Vietnamese flag in front of the Vietnamese Embassy in Phnom Penh to demand an apology from the spokesman and urged him to accept the true history of the former Kampuchea Krom provinces.
According to history, French protectorate officially turned over the former Kampuchea Krom provinces, once Cambodian territory, to neighbouring Vietnam on June 4, 1949.

See, I told you. Khmer people in Vietnam are much better off than the Khmer in Cambodia. They love to be Vietnamese and not Cambodians. Stop trying to assert control over them, they don't want you.
If you want unity with Khmers in Khmer Krom, at least you must offer for the Khmer Krom folks to rule you, then they might consider it.
The problem here is: You are vastly inferior to the Khmers in Vietnam and you want to control them? It will never work.

Vietnamese has used a very smart strategy. "IF A KHMER KROM LIKE THACH DU AGREE THAT SOUTH VIETNAM BELONG TO VIETNAM. THERE WILL NO DISPUTE ISSUE INTHE FUTURE"
I would not be surprised some Khmer Krom, say...Thach Du would agree South Vietnam and Cambodia should be one country if you allow them to rule the over-all country. The the problem here is: You folks want to rule them, and they are superior over you folks.
So, they won't submit to inferior Khmer, they will submit to the superior Vietnamese.
I watch the Youtube clips about the Khmers in Vietnam. They were clearly bigger, taller, well fed and happier than the Khmer in Cambodia. Cambodia is a horrible country. Even the poor, dirty, filthy women who lived by the garbage mountain got raped repeatedly till they got pregnant.
Think about it, you are poor, have no money to go to the hospital to give birth, have not money to raise children, have no husband. Would you want sex? No, other evil Khmer men just rape the women like animals. You Khmer race is the sickest race known in the world.

Do I need to response to the comment above where Khmer also raped people. UN estimates 1 in 5 Khmer had raped or gang raped people (reported by your own KI Media last year. I remember in January, a Khmer man made the news by having sex with his cow.
