British Ambassador visits pagoda during Pchum Ben

British Ambassador and Madam visited a local pagoda in Phnom Penh. During the visit, Ambassador Longhurst said:

"On the traditional celebration of the Pchum Ben festival, I visited a local pagoda with my Cambodian colleagues and very much enjoyed seeing the people of Cambodia being true to their rich cultures and traditions. As Cambodians are flocking into Buddhist temples across the country despite the rather wet and rainy conditions in some provinces, it is a time of reflection of all of our loved ones who have passed away. May the rain wash away all our worries and I wish you and your families a happy Pchum Ben festival."
PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- William Longhurst, British Ambassador to Cambodia, and his wife as well as his colleagues recently visited a Cambodian pagoda in Phnom Penh during Cambodia's traditional Pchum Ben festival.

"On the traditional celebration of the Pchum Ben festival, I visited a local pagoda with my Cambodian colleagues and very much ENJOYED seeing the people of Cambodian being true to their rich cultures and tradition," Longhurst posted on his Facebook page.

"As Cambodians are flocking into Buddhist temples across the country despite the rather wet and rainy condition in some provinces, it is a time of reflection of all our loved ones who have passed away. May the rain wash away all our worries and I wish you and your families a happy Pchum Ben festival," the Ambassador said.

it is good to see others especially christians having no problem worshiping buddhism...too bad some 'newly' converted khmers [to christianity] tend to look down on their ancestors religion... there were lot stories about them cursing and throwing the statue of buddha to the ground and do other despicable acts toward his representation/statue just because they decided to switch religion.
