HANOI (Xinhua) -- U.S. Senators John McCain and Sheldon Whitehouse said that they will urge the U.S. Congress to soon lift the ban on lethal weapon sale to Vietnam.
The two visiting senators made the remarks in Vietnam's capital Hanoi on Friday while meeting with Vietnam's National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung.
The U.S. visitors expressed their desire to further tighten ties with Vietnam, especially in areas of security, defense, ensuring network security as well as building hydropower plants.
Concerning the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement, John McCain said that TPP presents a cooperation opportunity for development not only for each country but for the whole region.
Nguyen Sinh Hung, for his part, said at the meeting that he expected the two countries to continue exchange high-level visits to build a more practical and comprehensive cooperation.
Hung also urged Vietnam and the United States to strengthen trade ties, Vietnamese government's e-Portal reported.
The U.S. senators are on a visit to Vietnam from Thursday to Sunday, according to Vietnam's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Le Hai Binh in a regular press briefing on Thursday.

now you all know that the US only look after its own interests that is starting wars everywhere in order for the military industrial complexes to make money [ and their owners donated plenty to them congress and president ] and most of them after retiring from civil offices go to work for those industries [ known as lobbyist ] ; they go to their friends still in offices and bribe/talk those in power to try to start more wars so their bosses / owners of the weapon industry would continue to make billions of dollars.
when the viets get those weapons they can move on to invade khmer, laos again but the hope of the US gov is for the viets to start war with the chinese gov.
