This is the second time I look at an unfinished brick wall in Cambodia, and again it has gaps between bricks. The gap indicates the shoddy constructions, thus building in Cambodia tend to be dangerous.
You see, when you lay bricks, you must apply generous amounts of cement between bricks, then press the bricks together so that the cement will ooze inside the bricks' holes. This oozing of cements will set firm later and serves as the finger grip to hold the bricks together. As the result, the oozing will also spill over to the side, thus you have to scrap them off, filling up between bricks with no gap.
I would not want to travel to Cambodia. Construction is so shoddy. It's a dangerous country. Even the buildings are dangerous, let alone the angry local people who might flip out and stab you over any little dispute.
