PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) – The opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) on Tuesday called for the authority to release its three lawmakers arrested in a violent clash at the Freedom Park.

"CNRP demands for unconditional release of three lawmakers who were arrested by authority this morning at the Freedom Park," it said in a statement issued just hours after the arrest of Mu Sochua and other two lawmakers.

The CNRP also expressed its regret over the violent clash between district security forces and protesters who demand the opening of the Freedom Park.

"We maintain non-violent procedure, and support all kind of activities to demand freedom of expression," the CNRP said, demanding that the Freedom Park should be opened for all citizens to express their points of view.

Several security guards and protesters were wounded in the clash when The protesters tried to occupy the Freedom Park which has been roped off with razor barbed wire for several months.

Two securities were seriously wounded and the doctors are making effort to save their lives, a Phnom Penh official said.

The protesters led by Mu Sochua brought banners to the Freedom Park to free the site. The banners read "Free the Freedom Park."

Cambodian government has banned rallies at the Freedom Park after deadly crackdown early this year on Veng Sreng street and at Yakjin factory, on the outskirt of Phnom Penh.

The crackdown left at least four people dead and over 40 injured when police opened fires to protesting workers demanding better work condition.
