Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida said Friday he will pay a three-day official visit to Cambodia as part of efforts to strengthen a strategic partnership between the two countries.
Kishida said he plans to hold separate talks with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and Foreign Minister Hor Namhong during the visit from Sunday.
"Bilateral economic relations have deepened, with the number of Japanese companies investing in Cambodia tripling in recent years," Kishida said at a news conference. "We would like to further strengthen (the two countries') strategic partnership."
Cambodia's Foreign Ministry said earlier that Hun Sen and Kishida will preside over the official inauguration Monday of the Aeon Mall in Phnom Penh, the first Japanese shopping mall to open in Cambodia.
