Cambodian citizens demand Thai junta respect rights of deported workers

Give our kids a better deal
PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- Around 100 citizens, workers and youth gathered on Wednesday in front of Thai embassy in Phnom Penh, demanding that Thai junta respect human rights and dignity of deported Cambodian workers.

The rally was held smoothly without prevention and disturbance by authorities.

The protesters appealed to the Thai government to create proper measure for deporting Cambodian migrant workers and ensuring that their rights were respected by Thai authorities.

They also called on Thai government to open investigation into loss of lives of Cambodian workers.

According to report, around 240,000 Cambodian workers have been deported from or fled Thailand since the start of this month over fears of a junta's crackdown on illegal foreign workers.

good luck with that demand ... they have been shooting at us since the time we were refugees running away from the communist youns right after they took over the country from the pol-pot.
