The lingerie model and Transformers star visited the capital Phnom Penh with UNICEF
Supermodel Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has shown her support for this summer’s SoccerAid match at Old Trafford as she made an emotional trip to visit children living in shocking slum conditions in Cambodia.
The former Victoria’s Secret Angel and Transformers star travelled to the capital Phnom Penh with UNICEF, which organises the biannual charity football match to help fund its work with children around the world.
The 26-year-old Devon beauty said: “I’ve been so inspired by the children I’ve met on my first day in Cambodia, despite the conditions they live in.
“It was heartbreaking to meet a mum whose baby daughter died from diarrhoea when she was just six months old because of the sewage and dirty conditions.
“When children get ill here, they don’t always have access to medicine or clean water to be able to get better.”
Rosie's trip will be featured in an appeal film to be broadcast alongside the match when it is televised live on Sunday June 8.
Urging fans to buy tickets, she said: “I was shocked to learn that around 50 children under the age of five die every day in Cambodia from diseases that can be easily prevented, like diarrhoea.
“Yet it costs so little to help save a child’s life. That’s why I’m supporting UNICEF’s vital work through Soccer Aid, and you can too.”
