PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- Opposition leader on Tuesday said three formulas were possible for National Election Committee (NEC) reform as the two winning parties are prepared for the summit to end the post-election dispute.
Speaking to supporters in Kampot province, Sam Rainsy, President of Cambodia National Rescue Party, said that the current political situation is at crossroad. It can either deteriorate or get better, depending on the result of the upcoming negotiation. He hinted that there are three possibilities for the NEC reform.
The three formulas are as follow:
1 – The two parties can choose members from their own parties to form the National Election Committee
2 – Choose independent individuals as well as people from the two parties to form the National Election Committee
3 – Choose all independent individuals to form the NEC.
CPP and CNRP is now arranging a meeting between Sar Kheng, the interior minister, and Sam Rainsy to negotiate on how to solve the post-election dispute.
