Give our kids a better deal
PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- Cambodia hopes to increase trade with Azerbaijan to $100 million by next year, Commerce Minister Sun Chantol was quoted as saying during a visit to Baku Tuesday.

Azerbaijan's Trend News Agency said he made the remarks at the Azerbaijan-Cambodia Business Forum, part of Prime Minister Hun Sen's visit to the former Soviet republic.

"Cambodia is interested in attracting Azerbaijani investments and establishing lasting business cooperation," he was quoted as saying.

ALL SIDES WILLING AND INTERESTED

During meetings with the Azerbaijani leadership, "all sides expressed their willingness and interest in developing cooperation and establishing trade relations.

"We hope that we will be able to achieve a trade turnover worth $100 million in 2015," he was quoted as saying.

In 2012, Sun Chantol said, Cambodia exported goods worth $0.5 million to Azerbaijan and imported Azerbaijani merchandise worth $7.7 million. In 2013, Cambodian exports to Azerbaijan were minimal while Azerbaijan's imports from Cambodia amounted to $3.2 million.

MORE THAN 40 AZERBAIJANI COMPANIES ATTEND FORUM

Azerbaijani Deputy Economy and Industry Ministry Sahil Babayev said the forum would help strengthen cooperation between entrepreneurs of the two countries.

"The representatives of more than 40 local companies from all sectors of the economy attend the forum from the Azerbaijani side.

"We are confident that the existing potential must be and will be implemented," he reportedly said.
