PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- Opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) leader, Kem Sohka and the editor-in-chief of the Monakseka Khmer newspaper, Dam Seth could face legal action for charging the government of stealing votes, and sending troops to rob citizens of victory, according to a government official Thursday.
On November 15, the Inter-Ministerial Working Group Unit for Coordinating Battleground Information of the Office of the Council Ministers had sent a letter to Dam Seth, asking him to clarify his publication titled the 'great event of stealing election results, and sending troops to rob citizens of victory'.
"We only want to know whether the speech came from a reporter or Kem Sokha," Phai Siphan, a member of the unit, said.
He said, the letter had been sent to the Monakseka Khmer newspaper days ago, but there had been no reply.
"We have procedures we must abide by in accordance with law if there is no clarification over the publication," he said, adding that it's not because of politics, we must follow the law.
Over the publication of Kem Sokha's speech published in the Monakseka Khmer newspaper, Phai Siphan said, we will let lawyers from the Royal Armed Forces handle it.
However, Dam Seth, said he needed to write something short and the title of that story was quoted from Kem Sokha. Three parts of the video had been already sent.
"I don’t have to a write letter to clarify the publication because the evidence and other documents were already sent to him [Phai Siphan]," he said.
