A compelling video investigation into the plight of animals in Cambodia has won WAtoday.com.au video journalist Jerrie Demasi a coveted 2013 WA Media Award.
Demasi won the Best Multimedia Report category at the awards on Saturday night.
She took out the coveted prize for her reports "Raiding the dark animal underbelly of wildlife trafficking" and "Skull is removed, brains eaten alive: dark trade in our backyard" on illegal wildlife trafficking in Cambodia.

WAtoday's Jerrie Demasi takes out the WA Media Award for Best Multimedia Report.
Demasi spent 10 days in Cambodia in April with just a camera and tripod.
She ventured deep into the Cardamom mountains trekking through hectares of decimated rainforest, where slash and burn farmers had harvested both trees and wildlife.
Travelling undercover with Cambodian Federal Police to raid the homes of civilian traffickers, Demasi captured shocking and compelling footage every step of the way.
Demasi said compiling the report had been challenging.
"I did find myself in some dangerous situations," she said.
"But when the camera's in your hand and you're just so desperate to get that shot a certain adrenalin takes over and you almost forget where you are for a moment."
"It's such a wonderful rush and an enormous sense of achievement when it all comes together."
The annual awards promote journalistic excellence in print, broadcast and digital media platforms.
This year's WA Media Awards drew almost 200 entries which impressed the judges with the high quality of submissions.
The winners were announced on Saturday at the awards' cocktail presentation at the Art Gallery of WA. Each winner was awarded with a unique 2013 WA Media Award trophy.
