Hun Sen urges residents not join protests

KANDAL, 2nd August 2013 (The Cambodia Herald) – Prime Minister Hun Sen urged the people of Cambodia  not to join in the protests against the results of the election, because it will affect their daily lives.

“I appeal to people to think for themselves," he said, adding that participating in the protests is similar to self-destruction as they will lose their jobs if factories, restaurants and hotels are closed due to the chaos.

“The protestors should be aware because it can destroy their rice pots.”

He also urged farmers and sales personnels do not care about the politicians.

Hun Sen made such statement as the opposition leader Sam Rainsy warned that he would lead a nationwide protest against the election results. Even though he then said that the time has not arrived yet, fears remain among the people.

How can people listen to the dictator who doesn't care about Cambodia and its people for the last 30 years? The reason that he doesn't want people to join the protest is so he can benefit from it. It's not the beneficiary of the people. Factories, restaurants, and hotels are really low paid jobs. Cambodian workers want better pays and the only way is to change the leader to who is willing to talk to the factories, restaurants, hotels owners to give the workers higher salaries to insure the workers have a descent standard of living. On top of that the new leader will convince investors abroad to invest in Cambodia so people with higher educations can have jobs with better pays. Hun Sen has no plan of helping and also stealing lands from people to get richer and Cambodians suffer so much from lands grabbing. This is why Cambodians want to participate in protest to help themselves to live with higher standard of living.
