Cambodia's opposition leader Sam Rainsy has returned to Phnom Penh from the United States to lead his party's challenge to the results of the July 28 election.
Mr Rainsy, who leads the Cambodia National Rescue Party, had been in the US to attend his daughter's wedding.
He was met by hundreds of supporters on his return.
"The whole world knows that CNRP won the election and the whole world will help CNRP to expose the truth," Mr Rainsy said.
The
CNRP and the ruling party have had several meetings since to discuss an
independent investigation into allegations of widespread voting fraud.
However progress has stalled in recent days, with the ruling party cooling to the idea.
But
Mr Rainsy remains confident there will be an investigation, saying that
no one would recognize the new government without it.
Final results are not due until September.
The ruling party has deployed troops and armoured vehicles to the capital, raising fears of violence.
