A
STAFFORD student is embarking on a trip to Cambodia to help orphaned
children learn English after raising more than £1,000 in sponsorship.
Sophie Appleton, 21, right, from Rowley Park, is taking part in
Frontier’s voluntary project to help change the lives of underprivileged
children in summer 2013.
She said: “It’s a privilege for me to have the chance to be part of
this project and I look forward to making a difference to the children I
meet, as well as taking away an understanding of their culture.”
Frontier charity group works to “equip children with the tools to
lift themselves out of the cycle of poverty and open up opportunities
for them through the use of language”.
Sophie is currently studying English and Communications at university. She said: “The children of Cambodia are so keen to learn and it will be amazing to think I have helped to give them a start in life they might not have had otherwise.”
The money raised through donations will be used for practical expenses during her trip.
