Khmer Rouge tribunal must speed up the trials

Give our kids a better deal
Ou Virak, director of the Cambodian Center for Human Rights

PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- The death of Ieng Sary, former Khmer Rouge foreign minister, gave a warning sign to everyone, the tribunal must speed up the trials.

Ou Virak, director of the Cambodian Center for Human Rights, said ,"As a victim of the Khmer Rouge regime, I feel pain because Ieng Sary died without owning up to his actions. After spending hundreds of millions of dollars, this tribunal can not waste any more time in the other trials."

"Because of his death, the case against him is also finished. The tribunal can not try dead people, according to the legal procedures. It is a warning to the tribunal, they must act faster or we will have no trial."

Ieng Vuth, Ieng Sary's son, said that  family members are in the hospital to collect his father’s body.

"The legal proceedings are not finished yet and prosecutors are examining it further, but when everything is done we can go on with his funeral."

4:32 am, I have the same suspicion as you, maybe he was poisoned under the order from the CPP leaders or injected with lethal dose to kill him in order to force the international donors to put more money in to speed up the trial because now the KR Court is dried of funds already.

Ieng Sary is only a small fish of the genocide regime - the biggest one died a few months with much fanfare organised by scums disguised as the CPP - the bulk of the genocide cohorts. This tribunal is a farce and serves no tribute to alleviate the pain and suffering of the lost lives whilst the survivings stood by in every corner of the world watching!!! carry on sarge!!!

Ieng Sary was a close comrade to Commander Hun Nal. Anyone knows why Comrade Hun Nal hands over Ieng Sary and not Chea Sim or Heng Samrin to the ECCC?

Speed up the trial ? - Bring the rest of the accused killers and give them verdicts tomorrow . There are reasonable doubts because Nuon Chea & Khieu Saphan has pointed their fingers to Heng Samrin & Norodom Sihanouk respectively , the UN sponsored court wasn't & won't be able to make them participate to tell the truth .
It's not the first time that UN have the failure missions in Cambodia - Keep feeding
the Khmers killers , if UN have money to waste .
