Hun Sen not scared of Sam Rainsy in election

Hun Sen (L) and Sam Rainsy during the good old days.

PHNOM PENH, 14 March 2013 (The Cambodia Herald) -- Hun Sen said Thursday that he was not afraid to compete with Sam Rainy, National Rescue Party leader, in the general election.

Speaking at a ground breaking ceremony at Wat Non Moni in Steung Meanchey, he said Sam Rainsy was able to return back to Cambodia whenever he wanted, but he must face the law if he does.

"No one forced him to leave the country and no one called him to return," he said.

The Prime Minister said, he's not a coward who is scared to compete with Sam Rainsy because the facts showed that he had won in all three elections while Sam Rainsy had lost.

He also said, both Prince Norodom Ranariddh and Sam Rainsy were not on his level because he used to compete with stronger competitors such as late King Norodom Sihanouk and the Khmer Rouge.

"Sam Rainsy shouldn't be compared to opposition leaders in Myanmar who is willing to face imprisonment for what they believe in."

An exiled Sam Rainsy, had been sentenced in absentia to 12 years for uprooting markers along the Vietnamese border, forgery and disinformation.

He was also given another two years for losing a case against Foreign Minister Hor Namhong for defamation, disinformation and inciting discrimination.

If the election will be free and fair, based on international standards, Hun Sen will definitely lose the election.

If Hun told the Court to release Mam Sonando, he can tell the Court to let Sam Rainsy to come to Cambodia now to campaign and be the opposition candidate.

We, Khmer nationalists dare Hun Sen to do just that !!!

Hun Sen is not afraid of anyone including the United Nations and the NATO "no action, talk only".

Hun Sen is not above the law in cambodia because he is the law, the judges, the military, the police, the only power in cambodia.

Hun Sen will transfer is position and other important positions in cambodia to his children and relatives, the United Nations, USA, the whole international communities will not help the oppositions, CNRP.

Hun Sen complained that Sam Rainsy had lost to him several times in the past elections. The point is not about losing, but it's time for Hun Sen to step down, he's been ruling Cambodia for almost 3 decades. We need to make changes, there's too many problems with land grabbing and corruption til this day that hasn't been resolved. We need the United States to step in for a fair election.
