For the kids: Children at the Rainbow Orphanage.
A KIDDERMINSTER nurse is holding a fashion event to raise money for a Cambodian orphanage.
Alison Edwards, 56, was inspired by her son Tom and his fiancée Helen
Bonnel to raise money for the Rainbow Orphanage after the couple taught
English there in 2009.
Mrs Edwards recently visited the orphanage herself and was impressed by the children’s self-sufficiency projects.
The fashion show event will be held at the Gainsborough House Hotel in Kidderminster on Thursday, March 21.
It will feature a catwalk show by Lily Boutique of Bridgnorth, beauty
treatments and stalls selling handbags, make-up and clothing.
A Zumba group will also be performing as well as a busker as guests arrive.
Mrs Edwards said: “There are so many charities in the local area. I
wanted to put on an evening which people could enjoy whatever the
charity was.”
Mrs Edwards has had a number of local firms and companies help to provide decorations and prizes for the raffle.
She added: “Tom and his fiancée did a sponsored bike ride in pyjamas
for the orphanage in Vietnam after their visit and I raised a bit of
money for them in England through raffles.”
The Rainbow Orphanage looks after 38 children and was set up to give
Cambodian children a better future. It relies on donations as it
receives no Government funding.
The event starts at 6.30pm and tickets can be bought for £10 including a goody bag, prizes and food.
