Cambodia, Japan signed $34 mln aid agreement

PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- The Japanese government granted $34 mln in aid to Cambodia for the improvement of hospitals, a hydro-electric plant and the Institute of Technology of Cambodia.

The aid agreement was made Thursday under assignation between Cambodian Foreign Minister, Hor Namhong, and Japanese Ambassador, Yuji Kumamaru, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

The donations will be spread throughout three main projects.

$14.33 mln to be spent on improving the hospitals in Sihanoukville.

$13.10 mln will be utilized on the construction and renovation of a hydro-power plant in Rattanakiri province.

Finally, the remaining $6.47 mln will be used to modernize the rooms and equipment in the Institute of Technology of Cambodian in Phnom Penh.
