A TEEN hopes to fly thousands of miles to poverty plagued Cambodia to teach deprived kids this summer.
Student Hannah Scott, 19, dreams of being a teacher and wants to
travel to Siem Reap, in the nation’s northwestern region, to gain vital
skills and help underprivileged youngsters.
The Hatfield resident said: “The place we are going is a bit poverty stricken, we are heading to orphanages as well.
“So [the students] will be able to have more opportunities if they know a bit of English.
“I suppose I want to be able to give to people who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford it or have that opportunity otherwise.”
Hannah,
of Mosquito Way, is in her second year of an English Literature degree
at the University of Hertfordshire and hopes to go on to gain a teaching
qualification.
The Bristol native is ready to start raising the
cash to help her travel to the south east Asian nation – with the
budding teacher looking to secure £750.
She has not yet worked out how she is going to raise the money, but hopes to donate £200 to the schools.
