PHNOM PENH, 6 February 2013 (The Cambodia Herald) -- Two-way trade between Cambodia and
Japan more than tripled from $120 million a year earlier to $400 million
in the first half of last year, an official said Wednesday.
Koy Koung, spokesman for Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, also said that Japanese aid to Cambodia amounted to $301 million in grants and $139 million in loans in the three years to 2012. He added that 180,000 Japanese visited Cambodia last year.
"The Japanese ambassador clarified that trust among Japanese investors had increased because of political security and good relations between the two countries," he said.
Koy Koung was speaking after a meeting between Foreign Minister Hor Namhong and Masafumi Kuroki, the outgoing Japanese ambassador who is completing his term in Cambodia.
