Dear All

The Cambodian Center for Human Rights (“CCHR”) today issues the results of its findings regarding the Economic Land Concessions (“ELCs”), Social Land Concessions (“SLCs”), and Reclassification Land Concessions (“RLCs”) granted by the Royal Government of Cambodia (the “RGC”) in the year 2012. This information is now available through the Cambodian Human Rights Portal www.sithi.org in the ‘Laws’ section, sub-section ‘Sub-Decrees on Land Concessions’ or by clicking on the link http://www.sithi.org/temp.php?url=law_infrastructur.php&page_id=5&

CCHR has monitored and compiled all data regarding land concessions as published in the Royal Gazette, thereby highlighting the number of ELCs, SLCs, and RLCs announced during this period. This release is part of CCHR’s Land Reform Project monitoring the land situation and condition of land disputes evolving in the Kingdom of Cambodia (“Cambodia”).

Summarily, the research shows that in 2012 the RGC granted:

  • 30 ELCs totalling 192,213.39 hectares (66,314.00  hectares subsequent to the moratorium on the granting of ELCs issued on 07 May 2012)
  • 55 RLCs totaling 273,982.81 hectares (188,749.49 hectares since 07 May 2012)
