Dresses - 13,000 of them - were taken to Cambodia through a nationwide program called Dress a Girl.
Wednesday, two women from Rochester who were participating in the program returned home.
Dress a Girl started with the idea of giving each girl a dress and hoping that it makes them feel beautiful.
They
spent 10 days in Cambodia visiting school and villages. The dresses
were gathered and made over a five-month period; 9,000 dresses from New
York State alone.
"To see them come in and be shy with us, then felt that there was a language barrier and then put the dress on and look into their eyes and see the smile on their face and see them twirl in the dresses was an experience," said Diana Frederickson.

Even though they didn't speak the same language, the happiness on the girl's faces were enough.
