Municipal Governor Kep Chuktema has apologized to the Ministry of
Interior for criticizing a police raid on suspected Chinese internet
fraudsters.
"I used serious words to police from the General Commissariat of National Police," he said in a letter dated Tuesday. "I really regret my comments without clear examination and apologize to leaders of the Ministry of Interior."
Kep Chuktema reportedly said after the raid on January 5 that "police didn’t cooperate and inform the local authorities."
During the operation, police inadvertently raided the house of Education Minister Im Sithy. Sources said Police Commissioner Major General Neth Savoeun had already sent a letter of regret to the minister.
