PHNOM PENH, Cambodia, Dec. 5, 2012 (UPI) -- A
Cambodian hair salon suspected of being a front for prostitution and
human trafficking was raided by authorities in Phnom Penh, police said
Wednesday.
The chief of the city's Anti-Human Trafficking and Juvenile
Protection Unit told the Phnom Penh Post three people were arrested at
the Mey Long Beauty and Barber Shop and 10 women were rescued.
Keo Thea said two people from Vietnam and one person from China were apprehended Tuesday.
"These three foreign people were brokers who had brought the young
girls from Vietnam to have sex with rich people in Cambodia," Thea said.
Tuesday's raid comes less than three months after the arrest of the
owner of the Mikasa Coiffure and Beauty Shop, which authorities said
served as the base of operations for a high-end Phnom Penh prostitution
ring with sex workers masquerading as hairdressers.
