Killer of activist’s murderer convicted
KOH KONG (Cambodia Herald) – Koh Kong Provincial Court convicted a
security guard Monday for killing the alleged murderer of an
environmental activist.
Timber Green security guard Ran Borath
received a two-year sentence which was suspended by 18 months. Sources
said he would be released on November 3 if there is no appeal.
The
guard has already been detained for six months for the accidental
killing of military policemen In Rotana, the main suspect in the fatal
shooting of environmental activist Chut Wutty in April.
Judge Kam
Sophary has already closed the case of Chut Wutty, who headed the
Natural Resources Protection Organization. He was accompanying two
journalists to observe illegal logging activities when he was shot in
Bak Klong commune in Koh Kong's Mondol Seima district.
