2,000 workers from 3 garment factories staged a protest on 22 October to demand that a Chinese manager of a garment factory prostrate in front of the portrait of ex-King Sihanouk to apologise after she cut his photo with a scissors. She was arrested by the police and was about to be taken into questioning when protesters intervened and demanded she prostrate in front of the royal photo to apologise.

On Wednesday 17 October, a Thai TV reporter have caused a stir for appearing to be stepping on the photo of the ex-king. She has later apologised for the misdeed.

Respect her rights forcing people to prostrate of what they didn't believe in is wrong. The king is deceased, cutting poster of the king is not look down at the king, she probably mad at the king for free loading/leeching on her nation [China] for too long. She has the rights to do so.Plus she isn't Khmer women, only thing that she had done wrong is cutting the king picture during time of his deceased while people were mourning the dead if the king.

Yobal Khmer.

Surely, she has the rights to do it if she was in China but not in front of Khmer people especially right here in Cambodia during the sad moments. Have you ever seen the American national flag, Japanese flag, Chinese flag and Cambodian flag, etc. were burnt by the antagonistic protesters? I remember it once in Thailand, I’m not sure of which year in 2003 or 2008 that Cambodian flag was burnt by the Thai yellow shirts but they’ve done it in their own country.

Yobal Khmer, you are a double standard person... Just because you and her are Chinese doesn't mean you bend your own rule. You said crap about the Siam reporter, and now you want us to overlook your Chen sister?

2:21AM - Excellent point. It is a great insult that the Chinese did what she did in Cambodia. If she did this in Thailand, she surely be in jail by now.

No one force her to like or respect our late King, but she has no right to insult Cambodia like what she had done.

Thank you my fella, first of all Siam lady step on the edge of the picture, second of all,Siam lady went prostrated to the king on the carpet with her shoes on,that was disrespectful to the dead's king, after apologized on the first offend she had done again on the second offend that got me angry little bit. After she repent herself and kneeled down ftat on the body to prostrated the dead king me and all khmers forgave her.

Now the Chinese woman is different from Siam lady.Chinese didn't have king,Siam did.Thapanee should know better not to disrespect the king especially in the day of mourning also she was a news media to cover the story.I respect your opinion for saying that I side the Chinese woman but I'm not side with no one,not Chinese nor the Siamese.

That's what you get for siding with China. They supported genocide against Cambodians, disrespect your people, and disrespect your most beloved king. They see Cambodian as piece of dirt for them to step on.

No question about it if it happen in Middle east or Muslim's country because these were racism fanatic.Cambodia is democracy respect human rights and respect of freedom of expression she expressed herself by cutting the picture of the dead king not deserve to die or jail, maybe public apologies to the deceased king like Siamese Thapanee that it.

Yobal Khmer at 12:04 AM, surely she has the right not to prostrate in front of the Khmer king's photo, but she should not have insulted Khmers in the first place at the time when they are mourning the death of their king.

The question is why did she cut his photo? I think she wanted to prove that she, as Chinese in Cambodia, can do whatever she wanted and no one can do anything to her.

True, no one can or should force her to kneel in front of the king's portrait, but she has a choice- to go to the police station or apologize. She chose to apologize and that's the best solution for everybody.
