PHNOM PENH (Cambodia Herald) - Evicted residents of two property development sites lobbied the US, Japanese and EU missions with small children Friday to seek the release of two residents detained earlier this week.

Witnesses said authorities ignored the protestors, who also sent a petition to Cabinet Minister Sok An. Bun Uy, a secretary of state at the Office of the Council of Ministers, received the petition and promised to pass it on.

Council of Ministers spokesman Phay Syphan meanwhile asked protestors not to gather at the Council of Ministers building.

Boeung Kak resident Youm Bopha, detained Tuesday, is accused of attempted violence while Borey Keila resident Tim Sakmuny, detained Wednesday, is accused of incitement.

The Cambodia Watchdog Council called for the release of the two on Thursday.
