Chea Sim
The cabinet of Senate President Chea Sim has today denied reports that Chea Sim, president of the ruling Cambodian People's Party and Senate president, has died.
Mr. Oum Sarith, Secretary General of the Senate, said on the afternoon of Monday, the 6th of August, that the rumour of Chea Sim's death was completely untrue and that Chea Sim is still healthy and is performing his duty as acting head of state in the absence of King Sihamoni.
On Sunday 5th August, someone who claimed to be a family member of Mr. Chea Sim posted a death announcement on Facebook, saying that Mr. Chea has passed away on Saturday night after returning from treatment in Singapore. The poster even left a phone number (077903506) for family friends to contact for more details of Chea Sim's death and funeral arrangements.
Today, Yim Leang, Mr. Chea Sim's Chief of Cabinet, angrily denied the rumours and has threatened to take legal action against the person/persons who faked the death announcement. He said he had formed a task force to investigate and to bring the culprits to justice.
Khmerization would like to make an unreserved apology to Mr. Chea Sim and his family for the anguish that may have caused by the rumour that we have published. This apology was not made because of a threat of legal action. But as someone who have lost loved ones, I know how painful it is to read reports about the death of my loved ones, especially if it is not true. My unreserved apology to Mr. Chea Sim and his family.

Unconfirmed rumors circulated in Phnom Penh indicated that Chea Sim, president of the ruling Cambodian People's Party Party and President of the Senate, has passed away in the evening of Saturday 04 August 2012, following his return from Singapore for medical care.
sokheounpang.wordpress.com reported that sources closest to Senate President Chea Sim indicated that he was very ill and was sent for treatment in Singapore. After his conditions did not improve, he was then sent back to Cambodia.
Other unconfirmed sources said that Chea Sim has died, but other sources said he has not died yet. The blogger said that if Chea Sim really died, sooner or later the news cannot be hidden from public eyes.
Chea Sim has long suffered from chronic diabetes and high blood pressures.

This is unconfirmed report. Surely in the next few days we will know the truth if Chea Sim died or didn't die. If he died, there will be a funeral. If he didn't die he'd have to appear in public to dispel the rumors.

What is sure is that Chea Sim has been suffering from Kidney failure and has to undergo Hemo-Dialysis 3 times per week.
